Overview

Inside-sales teams live in Close all day, but when a prospect reaches out via chat, reps still have to manually search the CRM for context. That delay can be the difference between closing a deal and losing momentum.

The Close integration lets your AI agent retrieve lead records, opportunity details, recent call logs, and email history on demand. Your reps get the context they need right inside the conversation.

When to Enable This

  • Your SDRs handle inbound chat and need to quickly qualify returning leads
  • Prospects ask “Did someone call me last week?” and reps need call history at a glance
  • You want the AI to surface opportunity stage before handing off to an account executive

Prerequisites

Before connecting Close, make sure you have:

  • A Close account on any paid plan
  • Admin access to generate an API key

Setup Instructions

Step 1: Generate Your API Key

  1. Log in to Close
  2. Go to SettingsAPI Keys
  3. Click Generate New API Key
  4. Give it a descriptive name like “ChatSpark Integration”
  5. Copy the key immediately — it won't be shown again
Key Security
Your Close API key provides full access to your CRM data. Store it securely and never share it publicly.

Step 2: Enable in ChatSpark

  1. In ChatSpark, go to AI Actions
  2. Find Close in the Library and click Enable
  3. Select the chatbot(s) that should have access
  4. Enter your API Key
  5. Click Save

Testing Your Integration

After setup, open your chatbot widget and try these realistic queries:

  1. Ask: “Look up the lead for Bright Solutions”
  2. The AI should return lead status, contacts, and recent activity from Close

More test phrases:

  • “What's the value of the opportunity with DataFlow Inc?”
  • “Have we had any calls with the Apex lead this week?”
  • “Show me the email history for contact sarah@example.com”

Troubleshooting

Invalid API key

Close API keys are shown only once on creation. If you can't authenticate, generate a new key in Close and update it in ChatSpark.

Lead not found

Lookups search by company or contact name. Make sure the query matches the lead's display name in Close. Try using the full company name for best results.

Empty call or email results

If calls or emails return empty, verify that activity syncing is enabled in Close and that the lead has logged communications.
